For the past four years, Katie Kulp has served as the Vice President of Operations and Compliance at Chane Solutions. Katie began as an investigator early on in her career and now plays an important role in leading the Chane Solutions team.
She brings over 13 years of background screening experience to the table and is an active member of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). In addition to voluntarily participating on multiple NAPBS committees which focus on background screening best practices, Katie is also the Co-Chair of The Government Relations Committee.
Katie earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Temple University. Additionally, she maintains her basic and advanced FCRA certifications to ensure Chane Solutions offers quality background checks which allow employers to ensure a safe workplace. At Chane Solutions, Katie is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures which result in accurate and compliant screenings.
In addition to partnering with excellent researchers and hiring and training staff to be successful, she collaborates directly with employers to educate and train them on the importance of background checks and how to properly perform and use them.
Katie has been nominated for the Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year Awards. The Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year Awards is a joint effort between a number of local human resources associations and Society for Human Resource Management or SHRM chapters. The award, which has been given every year since 2001, celebrates the HR industry and recognizes those in the HR profession who exemplify outstanding achievement within our local human resources community.
“I am sincerely humbled to have been nominated in the category of Consultant of the Year and am looking forward to the ceremony celebrating all of the nominees,” says Katie.
Katie finds developing internal staff and educating outside HR leaders on the importance of a comprehensive background check (and also the lack thereof) to be the most fulfilling part of her job. “There is something to be said about performing due diligence background checks on new candidates and the underlying benefits this provides to employers as well as their existing workforce,” she explains.
When it comes to her view on the background check industry in 10 years, Katie believes it will grow and prosper. She sees increased performance of background checks by employers over the next 5 to 10 years and is hopeful there will be a greater presence of preemptive laws which make the legal landscape easier to navigate. Additionally, she sees the continued growth of criminal justice reform laws which mandate employers to overlook certain criminal history yet still do their due diligence.
